Map Area Calculator for Land, Property, and Fields
Measure area on a map for land parcels, property area, fields, or roofs and get acreage, hectares, m², and perimeter instantly.
How to Measure Land Area on a Map
- 1
Click to place your first vertex
Click anywhere on the map to place the first polygon vertex. Switch to satellite view first for precise boundary tracing of land parcels, fields, or rooftops.
- 2
Keep clicking to add more vertices
Each click adds a new vertex and the polygon updates in real time. Area calculation begins once you have 3 points.
- 3
Click the first vertex to close the polygon
After placing at least 3 vertices, click the first marker (shown in green) to close the polygon and finalize the parcel boundary.
- 4
Copy results or share the link
The result panel shows m², hectares, acres, and perimeter simultaneously. Click Share to generate a shareable link encoding every vertex.
Calculate Acreage, Hectares, and Square Meters at Once
If you need to measure area on a map, GeoQux shows land area or property area in square meters (m²), hectares, acres, and square kilometers (km²) at the same time, each with its own copy button, plus the perimeter. Farmland is usually sized in hectares or acres while engineering and real estate use m² — no manual conversion needed. Switch the primary unit with one click in the top-right toggle, and the selected unit moves to the top of the results while the others stay visible below.
Measure Property Area, Farmland, Roof Area, and More
Farmland and field acreage
Trace field boundaries to get m², hectares, or acres — useful for planting planning and supply estimates.
Property and land parcel area
Trace a land parcel on satellite view to measure its actual area for real estate valuation or building permits.
Roof area for solar panels
Zoom into satellite view, trace the roof outline, and estimate the area available for solar panel installation.
Water bodies and terrain
Measure the area of lakes, forests, parks, or other irregular shapes for environmental monitoring.
Service area and delivery zone coverage
Trace a neighborhood or delivery zone on satellite view to quickly calculate the coverage area.
Building footprint estimate
Measure building or courtyard area from an aerial perspective for quick rough calculations.
Area Measurement Accuracy on Satellite View
How geodesic polygon area is calculated
Area is calculated using spherical geometry (via Turf.js), giving the true area of the polygon on Earth's curved surface in m². This differs from measuring on a flat map — for large areas such as farmland or land parcels, the spherical calculation is significantly more accurate.
Common Area Units for Land, Parcels, and Roofs
1 hectare = 10,000 m² ≈ 2.471 acres. Hectares are the standard in most countries and in agricultural contexts internationally. Acres are commonly used in the United States, United Kingdom, and a few other countries. This tool displays m², hectares, acres, and km² simultaneously so you never need to convert manually.
Why satellite view helps trace property and parcel boundaries accurately
On a standard road map, the visible boundaries of a property, field, or roof are not drawn — only roads and labels appear. Switching to satellite view lets you see the actual outlines of land parcels, buildings, and fields so you can trace the boundary precisely and get a reliable area measurement.
